Club History
Nigel Goldsworthy became Masters Coach, reducing his scope for training, nevertheless he produced some notable swims including two Silvers in the World Masters in 1992. Our story comes back to Sue Jenner who in 1987 set World Masters records in the 100m and 200m Butterfly. In 1989, 1990 and 1991 she helped better 4 World Masters Relay records. She teamed up for life with Nigel Goldsworthy (they married in 1990) and also won two relay silvers in the World Masters Championships in 1991. In 1992 Michelle Pearson set a World Masters 50m Backstroke record and in 1994 and John Campbell set a European Masters record for 400m Individual Medley. Dave Hobbs is more than a chief coach as he was the main instigator and organiser of the club's huge expansion between 1989 and 1995 and has maintained the standard and size of the club ever since. The club runs all out of school teaching for Camden Borough, which has not only helped to increase club member numbers, but has also helped subsidise many young competitive swimmers. Although he does help to coach many masters swimmers in the early morning sessions his, and the club's main priority lies in helping the young swimmers achieve their potential. (Continued.....)
