Olivia Willis becomes the 18th National qualified swimmer this season.
11 year old Olivia who trains with Camden Swiss Cottage Intermediate squad under assistant director of swimming Mark Allen had an outstanding meet finishing 2nd in the ‘Top Girl of the meet’ at Coventry 50m pool this weekend. Winning triple gold on the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke in 41.75, 1.26.00 and 3.09.11 respectively. A delighted Mark Allen who identified Olivia’s chances of qualifying back in March in the county age groups was especially pleased with the 100m swim that was comfortably inside the national qualifying standard of 1.26.81. Olivia also took three bronze medals on the 50m backstroke in 40.17, 50m freestyle in 32.62 and 200m Individual medley in 2.51.53.
Robin Neumann a part of the talented 11 year old girls the club has developed over the last two years was in sensational form taking 4 gold’s and 2 silvers. Robin was although already qualified for nationals swam way inside the qualifying standards to show what a promising and talented young athlete she is. Robin who also swims out of the Swiss Cottage sports centre took gold on the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke with times of 36.00, 1.14.39 (NQT 1.16.70) and 200m backstroke 2.39.29 (NQT 2.42.90) respectively. Robins 4th gold medal came on 50m freestyle in 31.19, she also took the silver medal on the 100m freestyle where she gained her third national time this season with a swim of 1.06.67 (NQT 1.07.15) and the 200m freestyle in 2.29.33.
Also returning from Coventry glittering in gold was 14 year old Reut Benaim demonstrating how to swim butterfly with three gold medals on the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly all in personal best times of 30.02, 1.05.63 (NQT 1.07.16) and 2.28.01 with later just outside the qualifying standard of 2.27.25.
14 year old Sarah Taylor Reid took gold for the second week running (last week in the London regional championships) on the 50m breaststroke with 38.06 and silvers on the 100m in 1.21.83 and 200m in 2.55.08. Naiomi Wakeham-Aredes, also took gold on the 200 individual Medley in 2.32.10 and a silver was won on the 200m freestyle in 2.15.12 swimming in the 16 years age group
Other club medals went to Alex Peake with a Silver and a bronze in the 13 year old age group on the 50m breaststroke 36.61 and 50m butterfly 30.88. Eugene Potter took bronze in the 50m backstroke in 38.01 in the 13 years age group, Clara Ahmed also 13 came second in 39.03 in the 50m breaststroke. In the 12 year old age group Billy Bradley came 2nd gaining a silver medal on the 200m butterfly in 2.57.02, also in the same age group Tamir Gonen Cohen took a bronze in the girls 50m butterfly in 33.87. In the boys 14 years Scott Broadis came third with 36.98 in taking the bronze medal on the 50m breaststroke. The most disappointed swimmer of the weekend was 14 year old Rosie Hughes in swimming inside the national qualifying standard time (1.10.15) only to be disqualified on a turn technicality on the 100m backstroke. The talented 14 year old had the consolation of taking the bronze medal on the 50m backstroke in 33.55
