Edward Graham gained a double national qualifying time on the 1500m freestyle and the 800m on the way through.
The 800m & 1500m qualifying times for these most grueling events have to be gained long course (50m pool). Four of Camden’s distance swimmers travelled to Sheffield to compete in the Premier Meet.
15 Year old Edward Graham swam sensationally, gaining the 800m qualifying time 9.04.78 (NQT 9.05.71) and finished with 17.07.33 (NQT 17.13.43). Edward, who trains 9 times a week, got the reward for all his hard work, demonstrating his level of fitness and ability to sit on pace. His splits of 1.02.19, and then consistently repeating between 1.07 & 1.08 and finishing with a 1.06 to earn him third place in the event.
Also swimming the 1500m was Alex Burgess who took the silver in 17.43.51 in a best long course time. Joel Sands, who has been suffering from tonsillitis and only trained once in the week, finished with a disappointing 17:19.84. Swimming his first ever long course 800m Leo Jaggs finished with 9:23.77.
