Camden Swiss Cottage once again proved to be one of the strongest teams in the county.
Showing their strength is across all sections of the club. With five swimmers missing as they prepared for the British Championships the team still demonstrated how strong they have become from the very youngest age groups through to the seniors.
Sophie Rittenhouse continued to show how talented she is in adding the 200m backstroke national time to the 100m that she had already achieved. At the weekend Sophie looked classy on her underwater skills and technique as she gained gold’s on 200M backstroke in 2:23.08, 100m backstroke 1:08.07 and also gained a bronze in the 100M IM in 1:12.67.
Three Camden swimmers finished the final weekend of championships with 5 or more medals. Jessica Hobbs (15) won 4 silver: 200m Back – 2:29.27, 200M IM – 2:27.07, 100M back – 1:09.09, and an outstanding 400M Free – 4:33.06 demonstrating her toughness on the last half of the race. Also Jessica gained a bronze in her 100M Free – 1:01.47.
Kelly Hookway (12) earned 6 medals winning two gold in the 100m Fly – 1:10.37 and 200M Free – 2:15.74 (almost a 6 second PB) and 4 silver in her 100M IM, 200M Fly, 100M Free and 400M IM.
Naiomi Wakeham-Aredes won 3 silver and two bronze. Her silver medals were in the 400M Free, 100M IM and 200M IM.
Rosie Hughes (14) smashed hher PB by taking over 6 seconds off her time in the 100M Back to take second place in 1:09.78. Indigo Mathews (9) took home two silver for her 200M Free and 100M IM; achieving a 9.63 second PB in the 200M Free in 2:45.49.
Sarah Taylor-Reid won third in the 400M IM in 5:33.97 and fellow13 year old, Tamsin McKinnon, took third for the 100M IM in 1:12.97. Reut Benaim (14) won her 100M Free with a storming last 25m to finish with 1:01.63 and placed second in the 400M Free with 4.37.
Robin Neumann (11) one of the teams brightest young stars won silver in her 100M Free in 1.05.22 and bronze in the 100M IM in 1:15.29, a 10.96 personal best.
Katharine Spooner (15) completed the girls’ medals winnings with silver in the 100M IM and two bronze for her 200M IM and 400M Free.
The CSCSC boys earned a total of 6 gold. Alexander Burgess (13) won two gold for his 200M Free - 2:06.69 and 400M IM – 5:03.84 (improving his PB by over 7 seconds) and earned two silver for his 100M and 200M Fly.
William Rittenhouse (12) won 3 gold and a bronze. He won his 400M IM in 5:32.59 and his 200M and 100M Fly in 2:37.89 and 1:09.69 breaking the 1.10 barrier for the first time, and on the 200M Fly achieved a 13 second PB. The bronze was earned in his 200M Free in 2:18.71.
Joel Sands (16) won the 400M Free in 4:12.95.
Lucas Perry-Hill (16) won three bronze for his 100M and 200M Back and the 200M IM. Fifteen year olds Leo Jaggs and Edward Graham each won a silver and a bronze. Leo for his 200M Back and 100M Free and Edward for his 400M Free and 200M IM. Santiago Parilli (16) and Alex Mackay (17) completed the double medal winnings. Again both swimmers winning a silver and a bronze. The following boys also won medals: Billy Bradley (12) third in the 200M Fly; Callum McDougall (16) third in the 100M IM; Andrew Hardt (17) second for his 200M Fly and Iao Pok Wong (15) third for his 100M IM.
