Over the weekend swimmers from CSCSC participated in Fareham Nomads Summer Open Meet at the Quays, Southampton.
Jessica Hobbs and Katharine Spooner both competing in the 14 year age category battled it out in most events over the two day gala. Jessica won nine medals, eight in individual events and the ninth earning her Top 14 Year Old Female Swimmer and Overall Top Female for the meet. Katharine earned six medals and took second place for 14 Year Old Top Female Swimmer. Naiomi Wakeham-Aredes placed 8 times and won the top prize for 15 Year Old Female Swimmer.
For the boys Santiago Parilli won four medals and took Top Male Swimmer in the 15 Year Old Category. With many Camden swimmers placing the team won second place overall with total team points of 538.5 just behind meet winners Staines and almost a full 100 points clear of third place, City of Southampton.
Naiomi Wakeham-Aredes won gold in 100m Breast in 1:19.20, 50m Breast in 37.59 and 200m IM in 2:27.48. She placed second in five events: 100m Fly in 1:08.58, 50m Fly in 31.18, 200m Free in 2:12.19, 100m Free in 1:01.40 and 50m Free in 28.74.
Team-mate Jessica took gold in 5 events: 50m Breast in 36.85, 100m Breast in 1:21.78, 50m Fly in 31.66, 100m Fly in 1:09.76, and 200m IM in 2:29.65. Her silvers were earned in 50m Free in 29.22 and 200m Free in 2:12.90. She completed her medal haul with a bronze in 50m Back in 33.96.
Battling it out in the 14 year age group was Katharine gaining two golds, two silvers and two bronzes. Gold was won in the 200m Free in 2:12.14 and 50m Free in 29.00. She won silver 50m Fly and 100m Fly in 32.20 and 1:10.90, respectively. Her third places were in 200m IM in 2:36.22 and 100m Breast in 1:25.25.
Robin Neumann (10) won gold in three events: 50m Back in 35.83, 100m Back in 1:17.72 and 200m Free in 2:29.23. She completed her medal in the 50m Free in 33.26 to take silver. Emily Drew (16+) won silver in the 50m Fly in 32.52.
For the Camden boys Santiago won four medals, two silvers and two bronzes. His second place winnings were in the 100m Free 57.26 and 200m IM in 2:22.23. He took bronze in 50m Fly in 29.93 and 100m Back in 1:08.95. Other successful 15 year olds were Liam Coyle winning gold in 100m Fly in 1:05.47 and Lucas Perry-Hill winning silver in both the 50m Back in 32.15 and 100m Back in 1:08.11.
Further successful swims were obtained by Billy Bradley (12) with silver in both the 100m Fly in 1:14.65 and 50m Breast in 40.80 and 3rd in 30m Fly in 34.41. Scott Broadis (13) won two silvers in both the 50m and 100m Breast in 37.54 and 1:21.36, respectively.
For 14 year old boys Leo Jaggs won bronze in 50m Fly in 30.42 and Jack Martin won bronze in 100m Back in 1:06.67. In the 16+ Boys events Metin Ayhan won third in 100m Fly in 1:02.22; Callum McDougall placed third in 50m Breast in 33.96 and Ilya Skliarov in 50m Breast took silver in 33.20 and bronze in 100m Breast in 1:12.31.
Jamie Yates, Olivia Willis, Cordelia Grossman, Clara Ahmed, Nikki Stewart, Tamir Gonen-Cohen, Paloma Friedrich, Saffron Coyle, Leanne Yates, Roseanna Cruickshank-Hull, James Burgess, Lisa Imas, Camilla Grossman, Vergil Wong and Jake Shah all contributed to Camden’s fantastic team’s performance.
