At the Edmonton Phoenix SC Junior Open Meet Paloma Friedrich, Vergil Wong and Archie Moat produced nothing but great swims.
In all five of Paloma’s events, 50m Breast, 50m Fly, 50m Back, 100m Breast and 100m Back, top place & gold was won in the 12 year old age group. Archie also 12 won 5 first places in 50m Back, 50m Free, 100m Free, 100m Back and 100m Fly with a 9.40 sec PB in 1:26.80. Vergil age 14 completed the trio’s gold only day with 4 firsts in 50m Free, 50m Fly, 100m Breast and 100m Fly.
The day saw Camden swim strong in many categories with the following highlights.
John-Antonio Argyriadis (11) swam a 24.84 sec PB in the 100m IM in 1:40.04. Amelia Brown (11) placed second in her two events with great PBs; a 18 sec PB in her 50m Back in 41.54 and a 12 sec PB in 100m IM in 1:24.85. Three swimmers Wayne Shah, Dean Shah and Victor Amara needed no time in between as they each entered all eight events, with Victor winning the 12 year old 50m Fly in 41.39. Emily-Jane O’Malley swam 7 events and placed first 5 times and achieved 5 separate PBs for her day’s work.
Other first places were won by Chloe Ramambason in the 13 year old 50m Fly in 37.56; Jake Shah (14) in 100m IM and 50m Breast; Lev Gorbunov (9) in 50m Breast; Benjamin Hales (13) in 50m Fly; Elliot Harlow (14) in 50m Back (with a 7 sec PB in 37.68) and 100m Free; Molly Hogan (12) in 100m Fly; Isobel Moffatt (10) in 50m Fly and 50m Free; Chloe McAvoy (14) in 100m IM; and Anisah Nsugbe (9) in 50m Breast.
