Camden Swiss Cottage participated at Ealing over the weekend in the last long course competition in London for the season.
The club’s members finished the regular season on a high with continued personal bests (PBs) and medals. Six swimmers completed the weekend with over five medals each.
Callum McDougall competing in the 14/15 boys category won 4 golds, 4 silvers and 2 bronzes. His gold medal events were: 50m Breast in 36.08, 50m Back in 33.29, 50m Free in 27.80 and 100m Back in 1:10.59. Santiago Parilli also in the boys 14/15 age category won 2 golds in 100m Fly in 1:06.17 and 200m Free in 2:09.37. Santiago furthered his medal haul with 4 silvers and 2 bronzes.
For the girls Olivia Willis (10) won 3rd in 100m Free in 1:18.69 and again in 200m Free in 2:53.34. She won three silvers in 50m Fly, 50m Breast and 50M Back. Sarah Taylor Reid in the 12/13 age group won a gold in 200m Breast in 3:00.93 and two silvers in 400m IM in 6:01.34 and 100m Breast in 1:24.95 and two 3rd place in 50m Breast in 39.46 and 400m Free in 5:24.98.
Highlights of the meet were by golden girls Devon Robins (in the 14/15 age category) and Robin Neumann (10) cumulatively taking first nine times. Devon’s firsts were in 400m IM in 5:17.31, 200m Fly in 2:27.64, 400m Free in 4:41.52 and in an impressive 50m Fly in 29.89. Robin Neumann was first in 100m Free in 1:09.58, 100m Back in 1:18.29, 200m Back in 2:47.55, 200m Free in 2:31.65 and 400m Free in 5:19.83.
Great swims were not limited to a few. Camden swimmers from the age of 9 to 17 placed. Alex Panteli (9) swam for gold in 200m Breast in 4:24.55, and two bronze medals in 100m Free in 1:35.75 and 50m Breast in 56.75 (over a 4 sec PB)
Another young member, James Slade (10) won bronze in 200m IM in 3:32.07. While in the 16+ category Chloe Spiby took gold in 200m IM in 2:47.23 for girls. The 16+ boys were well represented with Alex Mackay winning first in 400m IM in 4:42.90, Harry Needs winning gold in 200m Fly 2:17.83 and silver in 100m in Free 56.57, Max Hayhurst taking 3rd in 100m Back in 1:09.76, and Andrew Hardt placing second 4 times in 200m Breast in 2:55.98, 50m Back in 36.38, 1500m Free in 19:13.45 and 200m Back in 2:44.05.
Further medallists ranging in age from 11 to 15 included Liam Coyle, Eugene Potter, Edward Graham, Jack Martin, Kelly Hookway, Amelia Brown, Katharine Spooner, Reut Benaim, Tamsin McKinnon, Camilla Grossman, Xerxes Panthakee, Archie Moat, Isa Ouwehand, Lucas Perry-Hill, Alexander Burgess, Joel Sands, Jesse Matthews, James Burgess, and Aron Barta.
