Last weekend saw the masters travel north to Manchester to compete against the best masters swimmers from all over the country.
The team took 21 medals and set 9 club records over the weekend.
Leading the way on Friday afternoon Matt Molloy took a massive 42 seconds off his 1500 time to win Gold and set club records a 1500 and at 800 on the way through. Matt then left to go to Ascot while the other swimmers carried on with the following results…
Elizabeth Braimbridge won gold in the 50 back and 5o free while Susan Halter took gold in the 100 free and 100 back and added 3 silvers in the 200 back 50 back and 50 free.
The younger members also took medals, Kyla Steenhart taking gold in the 50 and 100 breast both new masters records and beating Laura’s club records. Kyla now travels to Liverpool for the Nationals on 12th July.
Lucy Mullan took gold in her first long course 200 fly and silver in the 400 free setting a best long course time. Lucy also set a best long course time in the 200 im by over 2 seconds.
Nari Lawrey took silver in the 1500 and 800 free and bronze in the 400 free. Nari together with several other masters are moving to open water swimming for the summer (though not as far as Nuala!!).
Maida Shivik won silver in the 200 free and bronze in the 800 free while newcomer Julio Martinez won silver in the 200 fly and bronze in the 800 free. Kirsty Melville took bronze in the 200 free and set best times in the 50, 100 free and 50 fly.
Chris Bumby who trains with the masters won the 1500 and 400 free and came 3rd in the 800 free. Chris was representing the navy in Manchester.
Congratulations should also go to John Rittenhouse who trains with us in the mornings for setting a European and two british records in his backstroke events.

The final indoor meet of the season is at Barnet on 19th & 20th July and this will see several masters in action before the summer break.
