Alex Peake swims National Time
Posted: Monday 28th April 2008
at the Coventry Spring Open Meet
Alex, at 12, becomes the youngest to represent Camden in the National Age Groups this year. He qualified with a stunning 2.53.97 in 200m breaststroke. Alex won gold in this event and in 3 more (50m fly, 50m and 100m breaststroke) and bronze in 100m free. His winning time in the 100m breaststroke (1.21.21) was only 0.25 of a second outside his National target, so he has a good chance of making the grade in this event too.
Alex makes the club's National qualifiers group go up to a healthy 11 (so far). He joins Joel Sands, Edward Graham, Devon Robins, Harry Needs, Bogac Ayhan, Alex Mackay, Felix Samuels, Laura Hobbs,Kyla Steenhart and Ed Walsh. There are 4 or 5 others who are very close and are still doing all they can to qualify before the deadline in June.
SARAH SWIMS PB IN 100m BREASTSTROKE
At the Coventry Meet Sarah Taylor-Reid (also 12) bagged 2 golds for 50m and 100m breaststroke and a silver in 200m breaststroke. Her 100m time was a best of 1.23.86.
14 year old Leo Jaggs brought home 2 golds for 50m fly (30.71) and 50m back and a silver for 50m free, whilst Kelly Hookway, aged 11, landed a fabulous 6 medals including gold for her 100 fly and 5 bronzes in 100m free, 100m back, 100 breaststroke, 200 back and 200 individual medley.
Eugene Potter (12) grabbed silver in 50m back and Billy Bradley (11) achieved a number of personal bests, including a club record in 400 IM and the bronze medal for the 50m fly. Well done to all our young Camden swimmers.
