Nuala returns from her trip to South Africa with open water success
Apart from her business trip on behalf of the ASA Nuala managed to race in The Midmar Dam which is approx an hour drive north of Durban , South Africa
Nuala came first in the age group 40-50 yrs with a time of 22:22 and was 11th placed female overall.There was approximately 16,000 competitors over the two day event . Nuala's event had 3,000 swimmers in three heats - so 1,000 swimmers all starting at the same time – which was quite an experience !(As you can see from the photo)
The swim was across a dam, which looks similar to a lake and water temperatures of 21 degrees . Nuala said “It was a great event to take part in and within my role at the ASA. I hope to be able to increase participants in similar open water events in England”
Shame there was no croc’s as I’m sure she would have been under 20 minutes!
