Just one week after competing for Middlesex in the National County Championships in Sheffield, four of Camden’s top swimmers were heading North again for the finals of the English Schools Finals in Manchester.
Ed Walsh, Bogac Ayhan, Harry Needs and Felix Samuels were joined by Devon Robins in the London Schools Area Team (Division 9).
All events at this annual meet were long course (in a 50m pool) and there were 3 age groups: junior (years 7/8/9); intermediate (years 10/11) and senior (years 12/13).
The best result was achieved by Ed Walsh, who was 3rd in the final of the senior boys 100m free in 53.83. Bogac Ayhan was 4th in the final of the junior boys 100m fly in a new long course best time of 1.04.75, an outstanding performance which demonstrates how fast Bogac is climbing the national rankings. Harry Needs was 5th in the intermediate boys 100m fly final in 1.00.53, just outside his heat time of 1.00.17.
In the intermediate age group, Devon Robins swam 100m fly and Felix Samuels swam 200m individual medley.
