Round 1 - What a Win
With an outstanding team performance, we finished in pole position ahead of Ealing, West Suffolk, Runnymede, Westminster, Hemel Hempstead, and Anaconda.
Kelly, Iao and Harry are double winners
3 swimmers distinguished themselves with 2 individual wins each. Kelly Hookway set a new 11/u club record in 50m free (winning in 31.20) and added victory in 50m back (36.21). Iao Pok Wong won the boys 13/under 100m back and free in 1.08.44 and 1.00.31 and Harry Needs dominated the 15/u age group, taking 100m back and 100m breaststroke in times of 1.01.37 and 1.10.32.
Teaming up for Relay Glory
As well as finishing 1st twice and adding 2nd in the Open 200m IM, Harry gained extra team points with the boys 15/u teams, which won both relays convincingly. The medley saw Alex Mackay on back, Harry on breaststroke, Liam Coyle swimming the fly leg and Felix Samuels anchoring on free. In the freestyle relay, Callum McDougall replaced Liam.
The boys 13/u relay squad also won both relays with Iao being joined by Alex Peake, Leo Jaggs and Aron Barta.
Tamsin Breaks her own Club Record
Tamsin McKinnon smashed her 11/u 50m breaststroke record in a winning 10-11 time of 39.38 and was 2nd in 50m fly in 36.36. She and Kelly teamed up with Clara Ahmed and Amelia Brown to win the girls 11/u free relay and then with Clara and Sophie Boyes to match that achievement in the medley.
Wins for Eugene, Reut, Felix, Ed and Jessica
Maximum points were brought home by the following individual event winners: Eugene Potter (50m brs); Reut Benaim (100m fly); Ed Walsh (100m brs); Felix Samuels and Jessica Hobbs (100m free). More points were piled on by Felix, Jessica and Ed with 2nd place finishes in their other events (100m fly, 100m back and 100m free respectively).
When Second Can Beat First
This meet was actually won by the impressive number of 2nd placed swims notched up by Camden Swiss Cottage. We had 18 wins to Ealing’s superior 24, but tellingly enjoyed no less than 23 2nd places to Ealing’s 9.
Those contributing to this result with 2nd in 100m breaststroke were: Alex Peake; Sarah Taylor-Reid and Devon Robins (who was 2nd in both the 15/u and open races). Katie Hogben and Leo Jaggs placed 2nd in 100m fly, as did Naomi Wakeham-Aredes and Sarraounia Samuels in 100m free. Vincent Neves was 2nd in 10-11 50m free. 9 relay teams came in 2nd - congratulations to all Speedo swimmers.
