Camden swimmers came away with some good early season performance taking part in their first long course meet of the season at Northampton Winter festival meet at the new Corby 50m pool
11 year old Robert Dos Santos had a busy schedule taking part in twelve events over the weekend winning the BAGCAT top points score. Up and coming star Robert best performances came in the 200m breaststroke and 100m freestyle in winning double gold in 3.13.09 and 1.09.20 respectively. Robert who swims in the clubs Intermediate squad under coach Mark Allen also took silvers in the 200 IM in 2.48.32, 100 breaststroke 1.30.35 and 100m & 200m backstroke in 1.19.76 and 2.45.85 respectively. To complete his 8 medal haul he took bronze medals on the 50m freestyle 32.52 and 100m butterfly 1.20.83.
Lauren Chappel had a rewarding experience breaking a 3 year best time with 1.03.96 in taking the silver on 100m butterfly. Her second medal came in the 200 IM with 2.26.87 in winning the bronze. Delighted with her performances 16 year old Lauren hit 4 national qualifying times with the two swims above and 200 freestyle 2.09.38 and 400m freestyle 4.31.21.
14 year old Sophie Rittenhouse face was gleaming with the biggest smile when she came away with two gold’s on the 200m backstroke and 100m backstroke in 2.23.28 and 1.05.83 and the later time qualifying her for the British championships taking place in end of March.
Harry Needs swam tough on all his races at the weekend but left his best performance to the very end where he knocked 2.5 seconds off his PB on the 100 breaststroke with 1.07.98 in taking 4th place. 17 year old Harry also took gold on the 100 fly in 56.88 and a bronze on the 200m breaststroke in 2.27.77
Other club medals went to 12 year old Tamir Gonen-Cohen on the 100m & 200m butterfly in 1.14.09 and 2.48.15 both PB. 16 year old Bogac Ayhan also on the 100 and 200m butterfly in 58.40 and 2.14.39. Alex Mackay bronze 400 IM 4.40.31, Felix Samuels silver 100m free 53.61, bronze 50m free 25.33, and Joel Sands bronze 800m free 9.08.56.
Tamir Gonen-cohen is swimming in the Israeli National this week and has just broken her own long Course PB for 100m Fly, going 1.10.31 and winning Gold....
